No Big Deal review – is this how AI ends humanity … with a sitcom so bad it bores you to death?
Anime & AI News
The Guardian’s review of No Big Deal, an AI-generated workplace sitcom created by former angel investor Andrew Dickinson, describes the series as visually unsettling and dramatically ineffective. The show follows investors as they hear product pitches. It uses a format likened to The Office and Dragons’ Den, however, its AI-generated characters suffer from inconsistent continuity, unnatural movement, poor lip-sync, monotonous voices and lifeless expressions. Dickinson reportedly wrote the script himself after abandoning plans for a conventional production because of its cost and difficulty. Reviewer Stuart Heritage argues that the problem extends beyond the technology, criticising the writing as repetitive, crude and unfunny. He also raises broader concerns about AI replacing actors, crews and eventually writers, presenting the series as an example of entertainment losing its human element.
