Masashi Kishimoto Announces Naruto Shadow Rising Manga

Naruto creator Masashi Kishimoto is returning to the franchise with a new manga titled Naruto Shadow Rising. The project was revealed during the Naruto: What’s Next? panel at New York Comic Con, where a teaser video introduced the title. The franchise’s Japanese social media account subsequently confirmed the name. More details are scheduled to emerge during Jump Festa on December 19 and 20, 2026. Kishimoto launched the original Naruto manga in Weekly Shonen Jump in 1999 and concluded it in November 2014. Its success led to multiple anime series, films, games, and the Boruto sequel. Kishimoto later took over storywriting duties on Boruto in 2020, and that storyline continues under the title Boruto: Two Blue Vortex. The new manga further expands Naruto’s long-running universe.
