New PV & Visual for Diary of a Strange Land

The television anime of Tomoko Yamashita’s Ikoku Nikki (Diary of a Strange Land) will premiere in January 2026 on ABC TV, Tokyo MX, and BS Asahi. A new promo video and visual revealed the main cast: Miyuki Sawashiro as novelist Makio Kōdai and Fuko Mori as her niece, Asa Takumi. Miyuki Oshiro directs at Studio Shuka, with series composition by Kohei Kiyasu, character designs by Kenji Hayama, and music by Kensuke Ushio. Newly announced staff include Toshie Kawamura (sub-character design), Miyako Kanō (prop setting), and Miho Tanaka (color design). The story follows 35-year-old Makio, who impulsively takes in her 15-year-old niece after her parents’ death, despite struggling with social interaction. Their uneasy cohabitation becomes a poignant tale of family, grief, and growth.
