YouTube Music Starts Labeling Primarily AI-Generated Songs

Anime & AI News

YouTube Music has begun rolling out visible labels for tracks created primarily through generative artificial intelligence. The disclosure appears within the player experience, allowing listeners to identify when AI substantially contributed to a song’s creation. YouTube says the policy covers cases such as models generating compositions and vocals. Tapping the label can reveal more information about a track’s AI origins, while the company plans to extend the approach to the main YouTube app. The initial announcement on October 14 follows rising debate about synthetic music on streaming services and requests for clearer provenance information. YouTube has not announced a firm rollout schedule. The change emphasises transparency about how a recording was produced rather than automatically removing AI-generated tracks.
