In The UK 8m Jobs May Be Outsourced To AI

Anime & AI News

Channel 4’s Dispatches episode “Will AI Take My Job?” featured Britain’s first AI-generated television presenter, Aisha Gaban, in what critics called a “dizzyingly grim” stunt. The program explored how 8 million UK jobs could be replaced by AI technology, testing professionals (including doctors, lawyers, musicians, and photographers) against AI capabilities. Results showed AI is faster and cheaper than humans, though quality differs. The AI host appeared convincingly human despite dead eyes and animation flaws. Critics questioned Channel 4’s hypocrisy in both showcasing and condemning AI technology while ignoring the environmental costs of datacenters. The broadcast served as an implicit warning to human presenters about their expendability, highlighting the uncomfortable reality that AI threatens creative professions alongside routine jobs, potentially forcing humanity into the service of machines.
