AI Tool to Decode Gen Z Predator Slang in Australia
Anime & AI News

Australia’s Federal Police are collaborating with Microsoft to develop an AI tool that decodes emoji-filled and slang-heavy messages used by online predators. The initiative, announced by AFP Commissioner Krissy Barrett, aims to interpret Gen Z and Generation Alpha slang to help investigators identify threats and rescue children faster. It targets decentralized “crimefluencer” networks that glorify exploitation and violence. Authorities have already identified 59 suspects, with 12 arrests made, including three Australians aged 17β20. Barrett warned that predators are using online slang and emojis to mask abuse and urged national vigilance, noting that “If it used to take a village to raise a child. Because of advances in technology, it now takes a country to keep them safe.” The project coincides with Australia’s upcoming social media age restrictions set to take effect on December 10th.
