🔘 The Gate

The valley had no name on modern maps. Locals called it Whisper Hollow, though few dared to enter. The cliffs loomed like sentinels, and the forest pressed in with a hush that swallowed footsteps. At its heart stood the Gate.

Legends claim that it was not built but grown. A ring of stone, etched with symbols no scholar could decipher, covered in moss and time. No one knew who had placed it there, or why. But it waited.

Lena found it by accident. She had followed the stream, chasing the glint of something in the water, and stumbled into the clearing. The Gate rose before her, silent and immense, an incredibly breathtaking sight.

She stepped closer.

The symbols shimmered faintly, as if stirred by her presence. The air thickened. The wind paused. The forest leaned in.

She touched the stone.

A pulse of light rippled outward, and the ring filled with mist, then stars. Memories reached out of it in dream-like illusions. Lena saw glimpses: a city of towers carved from crystal, a sky with two suns, a figure cloaked in vines whispering her name.

Then it faded.

She stepped back, heart pounding. The Gate was still. But something had changed. In her hand was a stone, warm and glowing, marked with the same symbols.

She didn’t know where the path led. Only that something long dormant had reopened.

The Gate had chosen her.
