Arm Brings Neural Rendering to Mobile Gaming
Anime & AI News
Arm has introduced the Mali G2-Ultra NX, its first mobile GPU with dedicated neural acceleration aimed at improving game graphics and frame rates without forcing phones to render every pixel and frame conventionally. Neural Super Sampling can render at lower resolution and reconstruct a higher-resolution image, while Neural Frame Rate Upscaling generates additional frames for smoother play. A third feature combines super sampling with denoising for demanding scenes such as ray tracing. Arm says its neural rendering demonstrations delivered up to four times better performance efficiency and reduced external memory traffic by as much as 70 percent. The GPU also includes third-generation hardware ray tracing. Arm expects developers to adopt these techniques gradually, with Where Winds Meet among the first games supporting its Neural Technology.
