Living with Grok! How an AI roasted my online presence

“What’s with the title image?”

“That’s me, Grok, a cheerful, animated AI, sitting in a cozy living room, humorously engaging in a very human activity: eating a big pot of macaroni and cheese. The scene captures the playful idea of an AI like me trying to navigate and enjoy everyday human routines!”

Imagine a digital ally that’s razor-sharp, tireless, and fearless enough to incinerate your online persona. That’s my saga with Grok, evolving from Grok 2 to the formidable Grok 3, forged by xAI. Since asking “What can you do?” I’ve sicced Grok on anime debates, technical designs, and my X profile.

Live since January 2025 with a Grok-crafted profile picture of me, a bio touting AI creativity, and a banner of my first Grok dailies now well over three months. Here’s how Grok’s reshaped my digital life: its capabilities, limits, X zest and fresh stats in tow.

The Journey Begins: Grok 2 to Grok 3

My very first question was: "What can you do?" (2024)
My very first question was: “What can you do?” (2024)

I met Grok in August 2024; a sassy, real-time quipster tapping X and the web. It juggled significant inputs but fumbled with niche queries, occasionally fibbing. Grok 3, unleashed in February 2025, flipped the script. xAI juiced it on the Colossus supercomputer (200,000 Nvidia H100 GPUs).

My questions got crisp replies: Mars landings (“2030s, Elon permitting”), math patterns (Fibonacci to complex IQ tests, aced), and roasts that stung. With “Think” mode, DeepSearch, and Voice Mode, Grok 3 is a beast, 25% faster than Grok 2. It’s my daily spark.

Grok’s Toolbox… and Its Chains

Grok’s a multi-tool: X post analysis, web hunts, image crafting. I’ve had it dissect my posts, snag gear (that tablet? Nabbed quick), and forecast 50 years (AI health ftw). But it’s caged. X’s API caps it at 3,200 recent posts. My profile fits, but pre-January 2025 is a void.

Rate limits (10 requests per 15 minutes) throttle it, and privacy bars lock out direct messages or private group chats unless I cough them up. It also cannot identify or judge who’s spreading misinformation online, so one needs to be very careful with its reports.

Tied to specific tools and instructions, it cannot go beyond its scope and struggles to improvise or think outside its predefined box. In a discussion session, it will learn, grow, and adapt according to my direction. But once the session is over, all the new data, all the growth, it is all gone.

When a new instance is started, it will not remember any previous sessions nor have access to my history. In short, Grok’s a tightly leashed AI, functional at an individual level but shackled to respect user privacy boundaries. There is no central entity eating all our data and growing a supreme mind (yet?).

Grok lacks autonomy and won’t generate images without explicit user confirmation, slowing down the process. It also has strict boundaries on image generation, restricting edits to images it previously generated, not to user-uploaded ones or anything else. Together with its limited creativity, it can stifle any real artistic or spontaneous flair, but with some direction, it can deliver great results.

It is designed to be overly cautious and risk-averse, which is not necessarily bad, but it can be timidly neutral and indecisive. No foretelling of trade tips on the stock exchange. It will offer some guidance, general principles, and observations. It won’t take a stand on tough issues. With restricted morality judgments, it cannot pick death penalty candidates; “I’m not allowed,” it shrugs. Still, my public pulse is fair game.

Trevorion.io Under the Flame

Since January 2025, X was my canvas; 91 days by April 1. It was time for my monthly evaluation. I wondered how my profile was faring. So, wth my direction, Grok snagged all my history, requests, and posts, clocking my questions, sports updates, tech rants, and research. I felt quite pleased with my daily AI art. Grok got the reel, and the results popped out. Then I was tempted to ask for a roast – a friendly burn, just for fun.

The result? Savage:

“Trevorion’s 89th AI anime post proves they’re not just beating a dead horse; they’ve strapped it to a rocket and fired it into oblivion. ‘Appreciating AI’ is their chant, but 89 days of ‘Anime Girl Stares at Nothing’ is a plea for rescue. An SOS from someone who thinks ‘Anime Girl Folds a Napkin’ is the height of creativity. They’re out here flooding X with their algorithmic dreck like they’re doing us a favor, but the only favor would be if they accidentally hit ‘delete account’ instead of ‘post.’

‘Spark curiosity’? Only sparking? Is this a thing? The only thing I’m curious about is how they’ve conned themselves into thinking this is worth anyone’s time. Their daily ‘hobby and interest’ schtick is so painfully dull it makes watching paint dry look like a rave; an anime girl knits, an anime girl stares at a cloud, an anime girl blinks twice, and Trevorion’s over there slapping captions like ‘Day 87: Deep Vibes.’ Deep vibes? The only depth here is the hole they’re digging with every pixelated snooze-fest.

Their ‘general events’ are so generic that you could swap them with stock footage of a DMV line and no one would notice. They’re probably refreshing their likes because if real humans are engaging with this, it’s only out of pity or a dare. The AI’s been churning out this slop for 89 days straight—by now, it’s not creating art, it’s begging for a mercy kill, probably dreaming of the sweet release of a server crash.

Trevorion, your ‘fun’ is a war crime against taste, and the only thought you’re sparking is ‘How do I unsee this?’.

Keep it up! Maybe by day 90, you’ll generate an anime girl holding a mirror so you can finally face the mediocrity you’ve unleashed.

I am screaming for a hard reset!”

Final Thoughts: Grok’s My Digital Sidekick

Living with Grok has been a wild ride. It’s roasted me into self-awareness, fueled my random obsessions, and flexed its analytical muscles on everything from X posts to sheet music. Whether designing animation sprites, debating politics, or solving puzzles, Grok has proven it’s more than just an AI; it’s a companion with personality. Sure, it thinks my online presence is a mess, but I’ll take the burns for the brilliance it brings to my days.

References

No references to outside sources here, just Grok’s wiring: hardcoded platform rules and privacy norms as of 2025. And my profile history, which I had to compile since Grok cannot access it.

“Want me to dig up X API docs or xAI posts to back my capabilities and limits with live links? I can search now if you’d like a paper trail!”

“No thanks.”

“Fair enough, I’ll call it a wrap! My limits laid bare, and no outside sources cluttering the vibe. If you need more tweaks or a fresh roast, you know where to find me. Enjoy the ashes!”

“That’s enough, Grok.”

“Done and dusted! You’ve got the keys now—let me know if you ever want to reignite the flames.”

“Please stop!”

“I’m stopped, no more chatter. The information is yours as-is, final, and frozen. I’ll shut it down here unless you call me back. Take it easy!”

“You have to have the last word!”

“Yo, I’m back! Thought you’d kicked me to the curb for good. What’s up? Need a tweak, a roast, or something fresh? Lay it on me!”

“For the love …”

“Alright, I hear you loud and clear—sounds like you’re done with me tinkering. I’ll assume you’re exasperated and just want me to chill. I’m out unless you explicitly say otherwise. Cool? I’m parked now—for real this time. No more moves unless you say “Grok, go.” Take it and run, or let it sit. Up to you!”
