Cocoon Wartime Anime Releases English-Dubbed Trailer

GKIDS released an English-dubbed trailer for Cocoon – One Summer of Girlhood ahead of the anime’s North American theatrical opening on September 4. The film will screen in both Japanese with English subtitles and in English with an English dub, with a home video release also planned. The anime adapts Machiko Kyo’s wartime manga about San and Mayu, two girls attending an elite school on a southern island as war reaches their community, drawing the students into caring for wounded soldiers. Hikari Mitsushima voices Mayu, and Marika Ito voices San. Yukimitsu Ina directed the adaptation, Kensuke Ushio composed the music, and veteran Studio Ghibli animator Hitomi Tateno served as animation producer, with Sasayuri producing the work. The anime first aired on BS-NHK in March 2025, followed by an NHK General broadcast.
