Dori Sakurada Joins Doraemon Birthday Special

Actor Dori Sakurada will make his Doraemon anime debut in this year’s birthday special, scheduled for September 6 in Japan. He voices Konrobo, a fox-shaped detective robot from the future who pursues Doraemon after the beloved character is falsely accused of stealing a one-billion-yen jewel called the Smile of Dorayaki. Security footage appears to identify Doraemon as the thief, placing him on a most-wanted list across every era and drawing a series of unusual bounty hunters. Sakurada said the story balances suspense with warmth and friendship, and described Konrobo as central to the mystery. Known for The Prince of Tennis musicals and Kamen Rider NEW Den-O, Sakurada has loved Doraemon since childhood. The annual special celebrates Doraemon’s birthday each September.
