LOCUS Animation Studio will release Guardians of the Video Game, a theatrical animated film based on Gasfard’s webtoon, in South Korean cinemas in October 2026. The story follows Patch, an elite agent whose job is to keep video-game worlds functioning correctly. After office politics derail his promotion, he is reassigned to the obsolete Classic Games department and enters the 8-bit title Legend of the Dragon Sword to stop it from being shut down. LOCUS, known for Red Shoes and The Priest, is producing the adaptation and has released both a launch poster and trailer. The original webtoon ran from 2014 to 2021, accumulated hundreds of millions of views and built a strong readership. The film combines 3D animation with pixel-art imagery to recreate its game-world premise.
