Meta Unveils Camera-Free AI Glasses and New VR Wearables

Anime & AI News

Meta has announced a new generation of smart and virtual-reality glasses, including Ray-Ban Meta Audio, an AI model that removes the camera entirely. The Guardian reports that the audio-only glasses retain microphones and speakers for music, calls, translation, and interaction with Meta’s Muse assistant, while addressing privacy concerns around wearable cameras. Meta says the new designs are thinner and lighter, with up to 12 hours of battery life for the audio model. The company also introduced more advanced glasses that place display capabilities inside conventional-looking frames. The launches arrive as smart glasses face scrutiny over covert recording and surveillance. Meta is therefore expanding its wearable platform while also offering a camera-free option intended to reduce one of the category’s most persistent objections.
