Pixel 11 Tests Gemini Calls on Users’ Behalf

Google is testing a Pixel 11 feature that lets Gemini place certain phone calls for users through the Gemini app. Digital Trends reports that the assistant can contact businesses to check product availability, make or change reservations and appointments, navigate automated menus, wait on hold, and speak with the person who answers. Users can watch a live transcript and take over the call at any point. The early preview is limited to paid Gemini subscribers in the United States who use a Pixel 11 and are enrolled in the Phone by Google Public Beta. Google is starting with relatively straightforward tasks rather than opening unrestricted calling. The experiment extends earlier Pixel calling tools such as Hold for Me and Direct My Call toward more autonomous agent behavior.
