Snapdragon Sound Elite Gen 2 Targets AI Earbuds

Qualcomm has introduced Snapdragon Sound Elite Gen 2, a new audio platform for earbuds, headphones and other wearables, with up to twice the AI capability of its predecessor. The chip adds micro-power Wi-Fi 6E, allowing compatible earbuds to connect directly to cloud-based AI assistants, translation services and other online tools without constantly relying on a phone. Qualcomm says the platform uses up to 40% less power and occupies 30% less space than the Snapdragon S7 Gen 1. It also brings fifth-generation active noise cancellation, improved cVc voice processing and support for advanced multi-microphone systems for clearer calls and adaptive audio. Existing features such as aptX Lossless and XPAN remain, while camera-equipped earbuds can provide AI systems with both visual and audio context.
