Transformers Anniversary Screenings Add New Optimus Prime Short

The Transformers: The Movie will return to cinemas worldwide from September 17 through 22 for 40th anniversary screenings in 4K. Each presentation will be followed by Optimus Prime: Awakening, a new 12-minute CG animated short produced by Hasbro. The project features Peter Cullen’s final performance as Optimus Prime, alongside Frank Welker returning as Megatron and Soundwave. Joshua Wassung directs the short from a script by Ryan Parrott, with music by Bobby Krlic and animation production by The Third Floor. The original 1986 film follows the battle for Cybertron as Optimus Prime and Megatron clash while the planet-consuming Unicron approaches. Its voice cast included Orson Welles and Leonard Nimoy, and its darker story became a lasting part of Transformers history.
