💀 The Grin Beneath the Hood

He waited, as he always did. The rain fell in steady sheets, pattering against stone and mud, filling the silence of the graveyard. Beyond the veil of water, the moon hung full and bright, a cold eye watching over the dead.

Death had no name for himself. Humans called him Reaper, Collector, Grim… but he was none of those things. He was a constant presence, a steady presence in their ever-shifting world. He did not walk with purpose. He did not seek or avoid. He existed like the ticking of a clock, unseen but inevitable.

Clad in a cloak that absorbed the night, he stood tall, shoulders hunched slightly under the hood’s weight. In one bony hand, he held his scythe, not as a tool, not as a threat, but as a marker of his office. The blade curved like a falling star, sharp as the finality he represented.

His skull, eternal and expressionless, gazed out at the moon. Empty eye sockets gazed at the luminescent orb without blinking, without feeling. His grin was fixed, the mockery of laughter without voice, lips, or breath.

He did not mind the rain. He did not care for the moon’s glow or the shadows it cast. The graves around him rose as silent witnesses, each marked with a cross, each a testament to his work. Some feared him, some welcomed him, but none could ignore him.

And so, in the graveyard, under the watchful gaze of the moon, Death stood and waited. For whom, or for what, did not matter. He was patient. He had all the time in the world.
