82% of Herbal Remedy Books Published on Amazon This Year are AI Fakes
Anime & AI News

A new study by Originality.ai found that 82% of 558 herbal remedy books published on Amazon between January and September 2025 were “likely written by AI.” The report highlighted fake author identities, repetitive nature imagery, and unverified medical claims as key warning signs. One top-selling title, Natural Healing Handbook, credited to a non-existent “Luna Filby,” was flagged as 100% AI-generated. Experts warn that such books could spread misinformation, citing the examples of controversial herbalists Barbara O’Neill and Alfredo Bowman. The Publishers Association has called on Amazon to label AI-authored works and remove deceptive content. Amazon responded that it enforces strict content policies and actively removes violations. The findings echo broader concerns over AI “slop” flooding digital marketplaces without oversight or accountability.
