Google Opens SynthID Detection Site to the Public
Anime & AI News
Google has opened public access to a website to check whether images, videos, and audio files carry its SynthID artificial intelligence watermark. The company previously tested the detector with selected journalists and researchers. Supported media types include common photo formats, video files such as MP4 and MOV, and several audio formats. Google uses SynthID in products including Gemini, Veo and Lyria, while partners such as OpenAI, Nvidia and Kakao also support the technology. Apple is expected to add support. The tool aims to help people identify participating AI-generated media, but it cannot establish that every unmarked file is genuine. Google says many verification requests are already being made through its tools. The expansion adds another public option for evaluating potentially synthetic content.
