Meta Announces First Ray-Ban AR Smart Glasses

Meta has unveiled three AI-powered smart glasses, including the Meta Ray-Ban Display, the first mainstream Wayfarer-style frames with an integrated heads-up display since the launch of Google Glass. A bright, full-color screen projects onto the inside of the right lens, visible only to the wearer, and can show text, images, live video calls, captions, or translations. Controls include a touch panel on the temples, voice commands, and an optional “Neural Band” wristband that detects forearm gestures. The glasses pair with Android or iOS devices over Bluetooth for messaging and calling via WhatsApp, Messenger, or Instagram, and can overlay walking directions, identify landmarks, or relay AI chatbot answers in real-time. They offer six hours of mixed use, recharge in a compact case for 30 hours, and will launch in the US on September 30th, starting at $799, with broader availability planned for early 2026.
