Anime Fans Detect “AI” in Mechanical Marie Anime
Anime & AI News
Crunchyroll’s Mechanical Marie has stirred controversy amid Fall 2025 anime releases, as fans accused the series of using AI-generated visuals. Adapted from Aki Akimoto’s completed manga, the romantic comedy premiered on October 5th, animated by Zero-G and Liber. While the animation was standard, its high-detail stills were flagged online for apparent AI traits. Akimoto later credited artist Mizuno Uta, whose consistent art style suggests human authorship, but social media debates persisted. Despite the allegations, the show continues airing unchanged, with episode two released on October 12th. The story follows Arthur, a wealthy heir who mistakes his stoic human maid, Marie, for a robot, sparking a comedic and heartfelt dynamic that remains the anime’s defining charm.
