Boston Dynamics’ AI-powered Atlas Robot Ready to Work

Anime & AI News

Boston Dynamics has unveiled new progress with its humanoid robot Atlas, now enhanced with a Large Behavior Model (LBM) developed in collaboration with the Toyota Research Institute. The AI system, trained on vast datasets of human actions, allows Atlas to adapt and perform human-like tasks without requiring hand-coded instructions. A new video shows the robot walking, crouching, lifting, sorting, and organizing while dynamically adjusting to disruptions, such as an engineer sliding or shutting its work box. Atlas demonstrates real-time problem-solving, highlighting its potential for real-world workplace roles. Boston Dynamics’ VP of robotics research, Scott Kuindersma, said the work offers a glimpse of general-purpose robots capable of dexterity, precision, and strength that could transform daily life and industry.
