Casio has announced Moflin, an AI-powered pet with over four million possible emotional configurations, launching October 1 for $429 in the US and UK. Developed by Vanguard Industries and marketed by Casio, Moflin utilizes artificial intelligence to adapt its personality based on user interactions over a 50-day period, ensuring that no two units are identical. It can recognize voices, respond to touch, and emit sounds that evolve from small squeaks to expressive tones. Moflin ships with a charging bed and integrates with the MofLife app, allowing owners to monitor its emotional state. Positioned as a mental wellness companion, it aims to provide emotional comfort without the responsibility of traditional pets. Moflin runs on a five-hour battery, though its long-term lifespan remains unknown.
