Gen Z Faces “Job-pocalypse” As Companies Invest In AI

A British Standards Institution (BSI) study warns that Gen Z faces a looming “job-pocalypse” as global companies invest in AI rather than entry-level hires. Surveying 850 business leaders across seven nations, the report found 41% of bosses are cutting staff due to AI, while 31% now look to automation before hiring. Nearly a quarter believe AI can perform most junior-level tasks. BSI CEO Susan Taylor Martin cautioned that while AI boosts productivity, businesses risk neglecting workforce development. “People power progress,” she said, urging balance between automation and human investment. The report also found “automation” appears seven times more often than “upskilling” in corporate reports, highlighting a widening gap between efficiency goals and sustainable employment.
