GM Previews OnStar AI Assistant and Remote Vehicle Cameras

Anime & AI News

General Motors has outlined plans to expand OnStar with new artificial intelligence features and remote camera access beginning in 2027. A redesigned OnStar application will let owners of supported vehicles review footage from onboard cameras after certain incidents and receive notifications without returning to the car. GM clarified that eligible vehicles already support local recording through a connected USB drive. The future service adds remote access to that material. A new AI assistant will also respond to natural language requests about cabin settings, remaining driving range, charging stops, and dashboard alerts. GM says the assistant can transfer a conversation to a human advisor when necessary. The changes bring additional connected features to its vehicles while raising familiar questions about data control and privacy.
