Golden Axe Animated Series Sets September 16 Paramount+ Debut

The animated Golden Axe series will premiere on Paramount+ on September 16, shifting from the previously announced Comedy Central destination. The 10-episode comedy adapts Sega’s 1989 fantasy action game and reunites warriors Ax Battler, Tyris Flare, and Gilius Thunderhead against the resurrected Death Adder. Their quest is complicated by Hampton Squib, an inexperienced would-be hero who joins the group despite being ill-prepared for the dangers. The voice cast includes Matthew Rhys, Danny Pudi, Lisa Gilroy, Liam McIntyre, and Carl Tart. Mike McMahan and Joe Chandler are co-creators and executive producers, with Titmouse producing the animation. CBS Eye Animation Productions, Sony Pictures Television, and Original Film are also involved, while Sega executives serve as executive producers on the project.
