Google Launches Universal Cart Across Search and Gemini
Anime & AI News
Google has launched Universal Cart for US shoppers, letting them collect products discovered through Search and the Gemini app in one persistent shopping list across retailers. The tool remembers saved items and browsing progress, while notifications can alert users to price reductions or products returning to stock. Google says it can also account for credit card benefits and available promotional codes when helping customers decide how to pay. Checkout uses the Universal Commerce Protocol, an open standard meant to connect shopping agents with retailers throughout the purchasing process. First previewed at Google I/O in May, Universal Cart joins conversational product discovery and AI-powered store availability calls as part of Google’s efforts to make online shopping more integrated and assistant-driven.
