Hana no Machi Brings Japanese Culture to DoKomi
Anime & AI News
Hana no Machi, a cultural performance group at Germany’s DoKomi convention, creates a peaceful space inspired by traditional Japanese hospitality. In an interview, member Light explains that founders Ruby and Hikari wanted a retreat from the crowded convention atmosphere and drew inspiration from Japanese teahouses. Since its DoKomi debut in 2021, the group has presented ikebana, storytelling, traditional instruments, dance, idol performances and anime-themed theatre. Its 2026 program featured a 45-minute production based on The Apothecary Diaries and a separate horror performance inspired by The Ring. Visitors can sit among Japanese decorations, enjoy performances, and experience activities such as shrine fortunes. Hana no Machi aims to combine classical cultural forms with the creativity of modern anime fandom.
