Mamoru Oshii’s Angel’s Egg Gets Remastered & English Dub

Mamoru Oshii’s long-unavailable cult classic Angel’s Egg is finally receiving an official U.S. release. GKIDS will debut the film in a nationwide 4K theatrical run on November 19, 2025, following its selection at the 63rd New York Film Festival in October. Known for its hauntingly surreal visuals created with famed illustrator Yoshitaka Amano (Final Fantasy), the 1985 film has never before been legally accessible to American audiences despite earning critical acclaim and an 86% Rotten Tomatoes audience score. Once dismissed as overly obscure, Angel’s Egg is now celebrated for its abstract storytelling and dreamlike artistry. Its remaster marks a reevaluation of Oshii’s legacy, affirming the film as one of anime’s most visually striking and philosophically daring works.
