NVIDIA Launches Jetson AGX Thor Platform Robot ‘Brain’

Nvidia has launched the Jetson AGX Thor, a powerful new robotics platform that delivers 7.5 times more AI computing power and over three times more CPU performance than its predecessor, the Orin. Purpose-built for real-time robotics, Thor handles high-bandwidth multi-sensor data with ultra-low latency and can run large generative AI and transformer models locally, reducing cloud dependence. A launch video featured CEO Jensen Huang gifting the “new brain” to humanoid robots. Boston Dynamics will integrate Thor into Atlas for advanced manipulation and decision-making, while Agility Robotics will use it to upgrade its Digit robot for warehouse operations. Academic partners, such as Carnegie Mellon and Stanford, will explore navigation and sensor fusion. Developer kits start at $3,499, with broader adoption eyed across robotics and mobility.
