Nvidia to Invest $100 Billion in OpenAI

Nvidia will invest up to $100 billion in OpenAI and supply it with data center chips, in one of the largest partnerships yet in the AI race. The deal, involving non-voting shares and chip purchases, provides OpenAI with the necessary cash and hardware to maintain its dominance while deepening Nvidia’s stake in the industry. Both firms signed a letter of intent to deploy at least 10 gigawatts of Nvidia systems, equivalent to the power needs of over 8 million U.S. households. Nvidia shares hit a record high on the news, while Oracle also gained as it works with OpenAI and others on massive data center projects. Analysts welcomed the scale but raised concerns about circular investment flows and potential antitrust scrutiny.
