Nvidiaβs China-Specific RTX6000D Reportedly Faces Tepid Demand
Anime & AI News
Nvidia’s new RTX6000D AI chip for China is facing weak demand, with major firms like Alibaba, Tencent, and ByteDance hesitating to place orders, Reuters reports. Priced around 50,000 yuan ($7,000), the card is considered too costly and less potent than the banned RTX5090, which remains available on grey markets for under half the price. Companies are also awaiting clarity on the resumption of shipments of the H20 chip and the potential approval of the more powerful B30A. Analysts had forecasted strong uptake, with JPMorgan and Morgan Stanley projecting up to 2 million RTX6000Ds in production; however, demand has not materialized. The tepid response highlights U.S.-China trade tensions and Beijing’s push toward domestic chip production, despite Nvidia’s dominance in AI hardware.
