Samsung Shelves Ballie Home Robot, Refocuses on Internal AI Innovation

Anime & AI News

Samsung’s long-promised spherical home robot, Ballie, first shown at CES six years ago and updated with a built-in projector and AI features, appears to be shelved indefinitely rather than launched as a consumer product. After missing its 2025 launch window and failing to appear at CES 2026, reports indicate Samsung will now use Ballie as an internal “active innovation platform” to inform future smart home intelligence, ambient AI, and privacy‐by‐design work. The company stated that Ballie’s technology will continue to shape other products. This shift contrasts with competitors’ push for humanoid smart home robots. Samsung’s change in strategy highlights the challenges of bringing versatile household robots to market even as AI integration becomes more advanced.
