π¦ The Still King
In the heart of the jungle, where vines hung like curtains and the air shimmered with heat, an iguana named Sol sat upon his moss-covered throne. He did not rule with claws or teeth. He ruled with stillness.
Each morning, as the sun pierced the canopy, Sol climbed the same rock and positioned himself just so. His scales caught the light, turning green to gold, his spines casting long shadows across the moss. Birds paused mid-song. Monkeys hushed their chatter. Even the wind seemed to slow.
Sol had lived through storms, droughts, and the careless footsteps of humans. He had seen jaguars pass below and snakes slither past his perch. None disturbed him. His calm was a shield, his silence a weapon.
One day, a young capuchin monkey approached, curious and bold. He danced around the rock, chattered, and tossed leaves. Sol did not move.
The monkey grew frustrated. He leapt onto the rock, inches from Solβs face. Sol blinked once, slowly. The monkey froze. Then, without a sound, he backed away, eyes wide with something like respect.
Sol remained. The jungle moved around him, but he was constant. A sentinel. A king without a crown.
And when the sun dipped low and the shadows stretched long, Sol descended from his throne, vanishing into the green. But the rock remained, bathed in fading light, waiting for the still king to return.
