ChatGPT Might Become The New App Store

ChatGPT is evolving from a simple chatbot into a full-blown platform, raising major concerns for traditional ecosystems like Apple and Google. By opening up to third-party developers, launching SDKs (software development kits), and becoming a hub for “apps” accessed via natural language, ChatGPT could disrupt how services are discovered, distributed and monetized. This shift challenges Apple’s and Google’s dominance over their app stores and mobile ecosystems. If users increasingly access apps through ChatGPT instead of their device’s native store, it could undermine the OS-level gatekeepers. The real threat isn’t the technology itself, but the platform architecture and control over the digital marketplace.
