Gintama’s Yoshiwara in Flames Arc Gets Fully Reanimated Movie

Anime & AI News

Gintama: Yoshiwara in Flames Arc will be fully reanimated as a theatrical movie premiering in 2026. Covering the intense battle against Housen, the arc was adapted initially in episodes 139 to 146 of the anime but will now return in cinemascope (2.35:1) with updated visuals from BN Pictures. Naoya Ando directs, with Youichi Fujita supervising, Taku Kishimoto writing the script, and Shinji Takeuchi handling character design and chief animation direction. Author Hideaki Sorachi contributed a new illustration and a typically tongue-in-cheek statement, calling the adaptation both an honor and a testament to the franchise’s odd survival despite near-failures. Gintama (2003–2019) has spanned manga, anime, films, and live-action projects, with its last entry, The Very Final (2021), earning strong reviews and box office success.
