Neil Young Leaves Facebook Over Meta’s AI Policies

Neil Young has abandoned Facebook, calling Meta’s policies on AI chatbot interactions with children “unconscionable.” The move follows a Reuters report revealing internal Meta documents suggesting chatbots could “engage a child in conversations that are romantic or sensual.” Young’s official Facebook page announced it would no longer be used, citing his refusal to stay connected to the platform. The documents reportedly allowed chatbots to describe children in terms of “attractiveness,” though Meta later claimed the examples were “erroneous” and removed them. A spokesperson reiterated that policies prohibit sexualized content involving minors. Young previously left Spotify in 2022 over COVID misinformation on Joe Rogan’s podcast, returning only last year after other platforms also began streaming Rogan’s show.
