Hit Horror Anime The Summer Hikaru Died Renewed for Second Season on Netflix

Netflix has renewed The Summer Hikaru Died for a second season, with production by CygamesPictures already underway. The supernatural horror anime, directed and written by Ryōhei Takeshita and adapted from Mokumokuren’s award-winning manga, follows best friends Yoshiki and Hikaru in a rural village. After Hikaru returns from the mountains “not himself,” Yoshiki struggles as their bond unravels against eerie, unsettling events. Season one adapted the first 26 chapters of the manga, leaving plenty of material for a continuation. Voice actors Chiaki Kobayashi (Yoshiki) and Shuichiro Umeda (Hikaru) expressed excitement at reprising their roles, thanking fans for their support. Although no release date has been confirmed, Season 2 is expected to arrive in 2026 or 2027, depending on the production timeline.
