San José Mineta International Airport in California Welcomes Waymo

San José Mineta International Airport (SJC) announced it will be the first commercial airport in California, and the second worldwide, to host Waymo autonomous ride-hailing services. Waymo received its operating permit and will begin with internal employee testing before opening to the public later in 2025. Passengers will be able to hail rides via the Waymo app, with pickup at the Ground Transportation Centers at Terminals A or B, serving the broader Bay Area. City leaders praised the launch as a milestone in Silicon Valley’s spirit of innovation, with Mayor Matt Mahan highlighting its role ahead of major 2026 sporting events. Officials said the partnership underscores SJC’s reputation for convenience, reliability, and technological leadership.
