Samsung launched its Galaxy XR extended reality headset on October 21st, 2025, priced at $1,799, half the cost of Apple’s Vision Pro. Developed in partnership with Google and Qualcomm, the device runs Android XR and features Google’s Gemini AI for analyzing real-world objects and providing information. The headset combines virtual and mixed reality capabilities for gaming, video watching, and interactive experiences. Despite competitive pricing and AI integration, the VR/AR market faces challenges, with shipments expected to decline 20% in 2025. Meta dominates with an 80% market share. Samsung plans lighter eyeglasses next, partnering with Warby Parker and Gentle Monster. The device targets both consumer and enterprise markets in an industry struggling for mass adoption.
